Ronaldos private plane selfie has world fuming
Cristiano Ronaldo is being slammed as insensitive for a photo he posted to social media from a private jet on the same day it is feared that fellow soccer star Emiliano Sala died in a plane crash.
Sala had just signed a record transfer with Premier League strugglers Cardiff for $20 million and was on his way to Wales when his plane vanished from the radar over the Channel Islands.
Around the same time Sala went missing, Ronaldo appeared to take a selfie on his plane, and someone took a photo of the Portuguese great in action.
England soccer legend Gary Lineker was among the social media users to hit back at the Juventus superstar for his ill-timed photo, tweeting: “Not the day for this tweet. It really isn’t.”
English soccer pundit Lewis Wiltshire called it “tone deaf” while former rugby star Ugo Monye said simply: “He’s a d–k.”
Ronaldo, who was flying back from Madrid after accepting a $21 million fine for his tax fraud case, appeared oblivious to the Sala tragedy as he posed for a selfie while he sat in the comfort of his private jet.
