Chargers' Jim Harbaugh opens as heavy favorite
Jim Harbaugh is the early favorite to win the 2024-25 NFL Coach of the Year Award.
Fresh off a National Championship title with Michigan, the new Los Angeles Chargers head coach opened the offseason as the clear top choice by oddsmakers to take home his second COTY honors.
Harbaugh is currently +550 at DraftKings Sportsbook to win the award next season, well ahead of the second-favorite Matt LaFleur of the Green Bay Packers, who is sitting at +800.
Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris (+1000), another new hire, is the only other coach outside of Harbaugh and LaFleur with odds at 10/1 or better.
A quartet of coaches – Shane Steichen, DeMeco Ryans, Robert Saleh and Mike Macdonald – are all sitting at +1400.

Reigning winner Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns is +6000 to win the award for the second straight season, which is tied for the second-worst odds on the board.
The Chargers have disappointed in recent years, including going 5-12 last season after entering 2023 with playoff ambitions.
Harbaugh, who has a history of turning around dire situations in a heartbeat, joins a franchise with one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Justin Herbert.
In 2011, Harbaugh joined a 49ers team that hadn’t had a winning record in a decade and immediately led them to a 13-3 record and Conference Championship appearance, winning the COTY along the way.
Four years later, Harbaugh won ten games with the Wolverines one year after Michigan went 5-7 under Brady Hoke.
