Dolphins wide receiver Will Fuller will not play in Week 2 against the Bills due to a personal issue, coach Brian Flores confirmed Friday.
“He’s definitely dealing with a personal issue. I respect his privacy and I ask that everyone respects his privacy… He has my support. Things happen,” Flores said, noting that he’s had multiple conversation with Fuller about the matter.
“Things arise in our lives. When they happen, they’re not part of normal every day, so it’s a surprise from that standpoint. He’s dealing with it. We’ll support him,” Flores said.
Fuller practiced Wednesday and was listed as absent from Thursday’s practice. Flores said he will miss Friday’s practice as well.
When asked if Fuller’s personal issue will stretch beyond Week 2, Flores said, “One day at a time.”
Flores added that the receivers behind Fuller will be next in line to get more reps. Rookie Jaylen Waddle and DeVante Parker will likely be Miami’s top receiving targets against Buffalo.
Fuller, before he was ruled out, was on track to make to make his debut with the Dolphins after serving a one-game PED suspension to start the season.
In 2020, Fuller recorded career-high numbers with Houston. He caught 53 passes for 879 yards and eight TDs in 11 games.
Fuller, a first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft, signed with the Dolphins after a five-year stint with the Texans.
